Album Launch Day(s)

Well… what a year it’s been! We’ve been hammering away in the rehearsal room, the studio, the mixing room, and on the drawing board, and we’re finally about to unveil the product of our labours: our very own piece of art wrapped in a cover of fine art.

We’ve refined the raw material from our studio time and have come up with ten pure nuggets of our original blues offerings penned by myself, Dave and Tony but unquestionably moulded into their final shapes by all of us.

Those that know us from our live shows know our range and variety and this album is a showcase of songs that stretch across the spectrum of what we offer and they’re all our own work – no AI here, no samples, no loops and no BS – just pure TinMen whimsy.

So… we will have the album back from the pressing plant by December, we have several gigs for your diaries, and we will have the album available at those gigs.

Sunday December 13 5pm-8pm: The Semaphore Worker’s Club, Semaphore

Friday December 18 8pm-12am: The Three Brothers Arms, Macclesfield

Sunday January 3rd 4pm-6pm: The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Thebarton

Sunday January 10th 2pm-7pm: The West Croydon & Kilkenny RSL, West Croydon (with Doctor’s Orders and Chris Finnen)

If you’d like to preorder the album it will be available on vinyl including a link to a digital download from Bandcamp or digitally directly from Bandcamp. If you’d like a CD that is also possible (if there is any interest or demand). If you’d rather wait it will be available from all of the above and future gigs – while stocks last.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and got us to this point. We appreciate our audience very deeply and it’s what has motivated us to put our best efforts into a musically collaborative and fun album that serves as our first foray into the ever expanding universe of sonic expression.

We may be bumping into other celestial bodies in the process or getting suffused with dark matter or solar radiation in the process but we will be there. A twinkling beacon on the firmament of other artists who have gone before us and those who are yet to come.

It’s been a wild ride but we’re excited as hell to be on board and we hope you are too.

Semaphore Workers Club fundraiser

The TinMen – showing our solidarity with a benefit gig for SWC.

The TinMen are sickened and angered by the recent break-in, theft and damage that occurred at beloved live music venue, the Semaphore Workers Club – so we aim to put back what the vandals took. And you can help too!

The TinMen will be playing a special benefit gig at Semaphore Workers Club – 93 The Esplanade, Semaphore – on FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER.

The TinMen is donating all of its share from door admission to the Semaphore Workers Club, so the larger the crowd, the more money we raise for this cause. It’s our gesture to say this venue is too valuable and too important to be undermined by senseless vandalism. But it doesn’t have to stop there. Every drink you buy and every coin or note you put in the donation jar will help bridge the gap by what’s covered by the club’s insurance and what will be needed to keep the nazis out.

Doors open at 7.30pm and The TinMen will start playing their inimitable style of original blues music from 9pm.

The TinMen play dusky blues of a local stripe, where the hot howling breath of Chicago’s south side meets the huff and puff of Adelaide’s suburban toil. Respectful of the great blues harp and guitar masters – Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, T-Bone Walker – The TinMen shape the sound to fit comfortably inside a nifty, nimble four-piece combo that shimmies and shakes in all the right places. Our kinda blues, from the Southside o’ Croydon.

This performance will be the official preview party of The TinMen’s new album. A whole batch of The TinMen’s original songs have been recorded and mixed – and a vinyl record will be issued in the near future. You’ll get to hear these fresh tunes first – attaching just the right amount of moanin’ and complainin’ and smirkin’ to conjure up a mighty collection of modern suburban Adelaide blues standards. These are proud and defiant TinMen songs – true blue, through and through.

Be a part of the action. Be at Semaphore Workers Club on Friday 11 September. Pour yourself a long drink and get ready to stomp your shoes. There’s a gonna be a raging blues party goin’ on.

Sunday 2nd Nov Semaphore Workers Club

It’s been quite a year and The TinMen are back in town and firing on all four cylinders.

Fresh from a gig at Cheong Liew’s “Inside My Food” book launch for Wakefield Press and followed immediately by another the next day at Hill River Wines in Clare for their Sunday Sundowner last weekend we’re reinvigorated and hot to trot.

Join us for some original and classic blues, some mellow and some rollicking tunes that’ll get you thirsty for more.

Sunday Afternoon Session December 8th

Hi friends, fans and followers (if you’d like to be a follower click this link subscribe and follow here).

Following Bock Around The Clock last month we’re having a repeat performance at The Semaphore Workers Club with the inimitable David Sly on the drum stool.

We’re playing on The Red Stage at the friend and fan friendly time slot from 5pm-8pm Sunday December 8th. Should be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon: supporting live original music (and classic blues covers), live music venue and enjoying the music, the weather, the bar, the barbecue and the full size snooker tables.

Our last gig was October 25th at the same venue and you may know our drummer David Sly was unavailable and we had a hoot playing with his son Miles Sly.

Thanks Miles, it was a pleasure to play with you. Miles and Lucas Sly play in the SA Music Award winning – Most Popular Country Artist – Brad Chicken & The Bootstraps. Ironic country at it’s best, or most questionable…

Hello again. The gig at the Semaphore Workers’ Club was a hoot. Thank you for all who came along and making it such a good gig.

Next, we are competing against two other bands in the Memphis Blues Challenge to see if we get chosen to represent South Australia at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis later in the year.

We’ve got some fresh new tunes, Dave’s hand has been declared fit to drum to his heart’s content and our tonsils are freshly varnished with a vintage lustre and patina that comes with celebrating Martin’s completion of six decades of existence.

We’d love to have a good crowd supporting us at Norwood in a few weeks so if you can please come along. You can get tickets here.

The doyen of Adelaide music venues the Semaphore Workers’ Club opens its arms and doors yet again to The TinMen and lovers of fine original blues music.

We promise new original music and a mighty fine time welcoming in the weekend with dancing galore.

Doors open at 730 and The TinMen perform 9 pm – 12 am.

Next gig Friday 18th Nov

We’re back on The Red Stage at The Semaphore Workers Club for three fun filled hours from 8:00 pm Friday November 18th and it’s nearly the end of 2022 so what better way to get ready for the impending festive season than to be part of the celebrations.

With some revamped originals and classic blues tunes the dance floor will be the place to be.

The folks at ARBA continue to fill Adelaide’s classic music venues with top notch bands and musicians and we’re chuffed to be able to be a part of that.

Memphis Blues Challenge Fundraiser tonight 21 Oct

Despite The TinMen not snaring the win and sadly not travelling to Memphis in 2023 if you’d like to support ARBA in funding the trip for the first place winners – The Honey Badgers and Frankie and Savva – there is a star studded gig tonight at The Semaphore Workers Club from 7:30 pm.

Tickets are $20 online or $25 at the door – all for a good cause.

The Semaphore Workers Club is a great venue and it should be a great night with special guests Jessie Dean, Chris Finnen, Nick Kipridis and Snooks La Vie.

It’s such a privilege to be playing on The Red Stage at the Semaphore Worker’s Club again – we are truly excited to be able to get together in front of such an appreciative crowd and in such a supportive venue and we hope you can make it to ensure we all have a blast.
