Hi friends of The TinMen, lovers of original music, dancing, and good times. Put the date in your diary – Sunday 19th May 5 pm at The Semaphore Workers’ Club.
Come along as we play our latest musical offerings and some old favourites.
There has been quite a hiatus between gigs but we’re pleased to report our irrepressible drummer David Sly has been declared fit to play and will be belting out the beats and we’ll be doing our utmost to support his best efforts.
It’s only a week away and another TinMen will be added to the swelling ranks of the seniors in the world and will be a freshly minted 60 year old (the Senior’s Card is in the mail). Come along and wish me a happy birthday for Tuesday 14/5. It’ll be great to see you there and catch up with you all again.
There’re so many acts it defies description – you have to look at the program on the PNBF website here. Most of them are free and they’re all indoors in one of the eighteen venues around Port Noarlunga.
The big nighttime shows are ticketed and are in one of the four major venues being used for the festival. Tickets are available here.
Chris Finnen is this year’s Festival curator and he’s done an amazing job and is playing in three of the acts on the program – and possibly he’ll make even more appearances.
We’d love there to be a great turnout and we are looking forward to playing some of our hottest original tracks and starting a red hot night on Friday.
For a taste of what we’re going to do we just played at The Semaphore Worker’s Club on Sunday afternoon last weekend and the unvarnished recording of our three set extravaganza is here on Bandcamp.
You can subscribe to The TinMen to get notified by email when we post – which is only when we have some news – we are not spammers and you can unsubscribe at any time. Subscribe here.
It was touch and go, what with Dave Sly breaking a hand he needed to play the drums but he will be present in all his fractured and fractious glory.
Keeping the drum stool warm will be the highly renowned drummer Tom Stehlik – these are definitely gigs not to be missed as we have put together our grooviest, most danceable songs into a three hour setlist that will challenge and excite us all.
The first gig is a civilised Sunday afternoon at our favouritest venue ever. So put it in your diary now…
It was a lot of fun and a lot of effort but well worth it – we enjoyed ourselves immensely and there’s some new original songs that got their first run and a few other originals that are firmly entrenched in our repertoire. So much so that some of us have occasionally forgotten that they are originals and assume that they’ve come from the pantheon of blues greats.
Put our next gig in your diary now and head over to The Port Noarlunga Blues Festival for tickets – stay tuned they will be on sale very soon. We’re playing at 7:00 pm Friday November 24th at The Port Noarlunga Surf Club followed by The Night Owls and lastly The Sexy Boys – what a lineup!
Due to the vagaries of live radio we were bustled into the studio 20 minutes earlier than expected so if you missed the moment a) that’s why and b) here is the replay.
And put our next gig in your diary at Henley Beach Surf Life Saving Club August 19th 8 pm (doors open at 8). Tickets online here or at the door for $20.
Click this link to buy a ticket or buy one at the door.
Doors open at 6 pm. The TinMen will play from 8 pm till 12 midnight showcasing some new originals as well as a mix of all our favourite originals and classic blues covers.
If you missed the Semaphore Workers Club gig then you’ll want to come along to this one.
We look forward to seeing you there: 246 Esplanade, Henley Beach
It should be a good crowd and a great afternoon – we look forward to seeing you there.
Don’t forget you can stream The TinMen on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp and on your streaming platform of choice – just search for “The TinMen SCALA Live at The Wheaty”…
And you can subscribe to our few and far between but vital and necessary email updates here – so you never miss a TinMen gig again. Cheers!
Due to spam and streamlining the address for this website will change in the next week or so to thetinmen with a dot “au” suffix – i.e. dropping the dot com – we’re not a company after all we’re a band and Australian.
There will be another email when this change has happened so look out for that in the next little while.
Fresh from the resort that is Palais de Sly comes a selection of our original tunes that feature the dulcet tones of the one and only Chris Finnen – doyen of the Australian blues scene and an Adelaide institution in his own right.
Please head over to our Bandcamp page here if you’d like to tickle your aural tonsils with the delights that resulted from the pairing of The TinMen and The Right Honourable Chris Finnen (see below).
